Our itinerary

  1. Seljalandsfoss

Seljalandsfoss waterfall has its source under the famous glacier (and volcano) Eyjafjallajökull. A 60-meter cascade flows down from the former coastline’s high, majestic cliff, creating a refreshing, moist mist that provides an unusual microclimate. Together with other mountains, these cliffs form a clear border between the coastal lowlands and the Highland region of Iceland. Apart from seeing this beautiful threshold, you can walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall, getting a backstage experience of a remarkable natural phenomenon.

2. Skogafoss

On this section of the route, you will admire other picturesque waterfalls from the window of our car. They are also beautiful but… not as spectacular as the ones we stop at. Soon we will reach Skogafoss, another 60m high waterfall on our way. You may recognize this one if you are a fan of Game of Thrones or Vikings, and if you climb about 600 steps to the top, you will find yourself where the iconic Landmannalaugar trekking begins. This is an 80-kilometer route included in the list of “top 20 dream trails” by National Geographic. We will share our experiences from this trek – we went through it more than once. If you want, we can plan such a trip together.

  1. Dyrhólaey

Dyrhólaey Peninsula is a magical place. This is a Nature Reserve with rich bird life and a characteristic, massive rock arch standing out of the Ocean. It looks even better live than in the pictures. This is where we will look for Puffins – scarce water birds that nest in Iceland from May to August. On the way, you will see traditional Icelandic farms, and your guide will tell you about traditional Viking settlements. Hence, you get some idea of how “home, sweet home” might have felt for Icelanders centuries back.

  1. Black sand beach

One of the most extraordinary beaches in the world. It’s called Reynisfjara and is covered in tarry black volcanic sand. It is also a place where you will observe one of the most fantastic rock formations in Iceland – basalt rock columns, constantly pounded by high ocean waves, and if you believe the Icelanders- these basalt columns are trolls turned into stone by the sun. Another thing is a vast cave-like indent facing the Atlantic Ocean. It is a perfect spot to appreciate the volcano’s creative potential and learn exciting stories about Icelandic trolls and elves from our guides. This is also where iconic “Game of Thrones” scenes were filmed.

  1. Vik

Vik is the southernmost spot on the mainland of Iceland. This former fishing village has only 400 inhabitants. There will be time to look for souvenirs or taste local specialties.

  1. Fjaðrárgljúfur

This stunning canyon was carved by water flowing from the melting glacier after the last ice age, about 10,000 years ago. Most visitors overlook it as it is not visible from the main road! We will walk together along the edge of this 100m deep and 2km long wonder of nature.

  1. Jökulsárlón

Until now, we have seen so much, yet, that was just a prelude to what will come next. You are ready to face the magnificence and beauty of Vatnajökull – Iceland’s biggest ice cap and National Park, where our trip concludes in a setting of genuinely enchanting beauty. Nature invites us there to slow down our minds. Breathe in the sharp and fresh air and enjoy the calmness of glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón. Icebergs floating on a still surface may inspire you to let your thoughts flow alike. Where would they go and how would it feel to rest from their constant rush? Breathe, relax and enjoy the silence.

After a day full of activities, we will return to the capital city and drop you off at your hotel.
